The design of Courtyard NO.1 was inspired by the digital age, where many actions are performed in the virtual world. As such, the objects within the building are designed to float in an unstable state, welcoming visitors with an open, dynamic posture. This unique design feature sets the project apart from traditional sales offices, making it a potential landmark in Heze City's future development.
Qun Wen and his team used stainless steel metal panels with varying degrees of reflectivity to create a rich interaction between people, space, light, images, colours, and materials. The building's facade, made of ultra-white glass, allows the interior's objects, spaces, materials, and colours to be visible from the outside. This design approach results in a constantly changing environment, where visitors experience different shifts of light and shadow at every moment.
Each object within Courtyard NO.1 serves a unique function. The entrance, for example, is represented by a horseshoe, while the model area is represented by a large camera lens. These objects, floating in the air, form a rich and hierarchical space that welcomes visitors with an open, dynamic posture. Some objects even collide with the glass surface, leaving traces that form a unique architectural image.
The design of Courtyard NO.1 is not just about aesthetics; it's also about sustainability. Qun Wen's team carefully considered the choice of features and materials for the design and furnishings, ensuring they were sustainable and environmentally friendly. This approach aligns with the project's goal of becoming a symbolic public building for the future community and city.
The project, which started in April 2016 and was completed in April 2019, is a reflection of the ongoing urbanization in China. As property developers expand into new markets, sales offices have become an important conduit for demonstrating their strength and design philosophy. Courtyard NO.1, with its innovative design and sustainable approach, is a perfect example of this trend.
In conclusion, Courtyard NO.1 represents a new era in sales office design. It's not just a place for property developers to showcase their projects; it's a public space that enhances the quality of life and contributes positively to the community. This innovative approach, combined with the project's unique design features, earned it the prestigious Golden A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award in 2020.
